Two connections make remote access possible
The gateway needs internet access through Wi-Fi and a reliable local connection to your compatible lift system. Improving one connection does not fix the other. Wi-Fi coverage at the house is not evidence of coverage at the dock, and a strong Wi-Fi signal alone does not prove the lift can receive a command.
Check coverage where the gateway will live
Test your network at the planned installation location. Consider distance, obstructions, and whether the dock’s network remains available when you are away. The gateway must also be positioned for reliable communication with the lift receiver. Final placement and power requirements depend on the supplied hardware.
What happens when connectivity drops?
Internet commands depend on the gateway being connected. Check gateway health and command history when a request does not behave as expected. Do not interpret an online label or successful transmission as confirmation of physical movement. Keep using your manufacturer-approved local control procedure when remote access is unavailable.
Choose the integration, then the network plan
AirRemote has integrations for compatible GEM and Hi-Tide remote systems. Confirm your exact model and control mode before planning a purchase. It is not a universal Wi-Fi adapter for every boat lift, and no cellular connection is promised.
Frequently asked questions
Does my phone need to be on the dock’s Wi-Fi?
AirRemote provides internet access through the connected gateway. Your phone needs internet access, but it does not have to remain within the original handheld remote’s range.
